The political spectrum in the United States continues to venture further into uncharted waters as former US President Donald Trump has been found guilty of 34 felony counts in his hush money coverup trial.
There are odds on the boards at political betting sites regarding what his sentencing will entail, and the leading contenders are probation and a fine. The sentencing will occur on July 11th, but Trump is expected to appeal no matter what punishment is issued.
Can Trump Still Run For President?
What these 34 guilty felony counts do not carry with them is an expulsion from qualification for Presidential candidacy. Anyone who is a natural-born citizen of the United States, 35 years of age or older, and has been a resident for at least 14 years can become the POTUS, regardless of any criminal background.
Trump’s candidacy has been challenged in a few states, and the US Supreme Court ruled that he was eligible to run despite any evidence produced suggesting his treasonal involvement in the January 6, 2021, invasion of the US Capitol Building.
These charges in New York have the potential for other Republicans to crank up their campaign’s engines at least, but for now, Donald still leads the odds to become the next President of the United States when all votes are tallied this November.

Will Trump Go To Jail?
There is a slim possibility that Donald will be sentenced to jail time, but entertainment gambling sites for 18 and up do not project his incarceration prior to November 5th.

This political prop bet requires that Trump be placed behind bars for at least 24 hours for wagers on “yes” to be considered a win. Since he was not required to post bond until his sentencing hearing on July 11th, it is doubtful that any jail time will result from his charges.
What’s Next For Trump?
The former President still has a few legal battles on his agenda, but none of his remaining trials are expected to begin before November. If the Trump campaign is to take a positive from the last 48 hours, the odds for his remaining three trials are now granting him better than a 50-50 chance of being found innocent.

Trump is expected to be announced as the 2024 Republican Nominee at the GOP National Convention on July 18th, which comes just after his sentencing. It remains to be seen how this will impact his election chances, but the polling data remains strongly in favor of Trump over Biden.
