When the 2022-23 college football season began, there weren’t any pundits barking that this would be the year that the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs finally climbed the mountain and won a CFP National Championship.
TCU is now 60 minutes of solid football away from winning a College Football Playoffs National Championship Trophy and bringing it back to display on their campus in Forth Worth, TX.
The top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs are the only thing standing in TCU’s way, and online college football betting sites do not believe that the Horned Frogs have what it takes to carve out a victory tonight.
Georgia is nearly a two-touchdown favorite heading into tonight’s game, but why? The Horned Frogs are coming fresh off of a CFP Semifinal game where they knocked off the previously undefeated Michigan Wolverines in a thrilling overtime win.
Furthermore, TCU has already gotten the monkey off of their back by losing the Big 12 Championship Game on December 4th to the Kansas State Wildcats. There’s no longer any pressure to retain an unblemished record, allowing the Horned Frogs to simply go out and play as opposed to trying to achieve perfection.
Here is the current line posted at Bovada for betting on the CFP National Championship Game.
TCU vs. Georgia Betting Line
- TCU Point spread: +13.0
- TCU Money Line Odds To Win: +355
- Georgia Point Spread: -13.0
- Georgia Money Line Odds To Win: -450
- Over/Under: 63.0
- Kickoff Time: 7:30 PM
- Channel: ESPN
The over/under combined with the point spread suggests a final score of:
Georgia 38
TCU 25
Something else to consider is that the Bulldogs have not played a game outside of the state of Georgia since November 19th, when they blanked the Vanderbilt Commodores by a score of 55-0.
Tonight’s game is being hosted at Los Angeles, California’s SoFi Stadium. This represents the longest road trip of the year for the Bulldogs.
Also, the pressure is almost entirely on the shoulders of the Bulldogs, as they are chasing perfection and have not lost since the SEC Championship Game in December of 2021.
While none of the above-mentioned factors guarantees a poor performance by Georgia tonight, it does provide plenty of ammunition for betting on TCU to cover this massive 13-point spread that’s being offered at 18+ CFP sportsbook sites.
If the CFP odds posted by current National Championship betting lines aren’t intriguing enough to lay some action on right now, there are plenty of props being offered that are taking action on player and team performances.
Here are two CFP prop bets where wagers can be placed on the over/under of each starting quarterback’s touchdown passes.
Over/Under Passing TDs For TCU’s Max Duggan
- Over (1.5) -121
- Under (1.5) -108
Over/Under Passing TDs For UGA’s Stetson Bennett
- Over (1.5) -244
- Under (1.5) +181
There are plenty more props where those came from, including the first player to score, quarter lines, and just about any other stat that can be tracked in tonight’s game.
Eighteen-plus gamblers can also wager on the National Championship Game while the clock is running. Just head over to Bovada after kickoff, and the in-game betting line will be featured front and center until the final minutes of the contest.
