Actor Daniel Craig retired from the role of Agent 007 following 2021’s No Time To Die. Nearly four years have passed without an announcement regarding who will play James Bond in the new film, but entertainment sportsbooks have created lines that project potential actors.

Fans of the series, as well as celebrity betting sites, previously favored Superman’s Henry Cavill to land the role. Cavill remains within the top five candidates at both sportsbooks, but his stock has likely dropped for two reasons.
The first is that Cavill recently accepted the role of Gus March-Phillips in the upcoming film The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. 007 writer Ian Fleming used March-Phillips as the inspiration for the character of James Bond.
Cavill’s role as March-Phillips doesn’t necessarily negate his potential for becoming the next Bond, but marketplace confusion could cause producers to look elsewhere.
Another roadblock for Cavill may be the salary he would command.
Cavill auditioned for James Bond 20 years ago but lost out to Daniel Craig. Cavill was likely too young at the time, as he was in his early 20s. His audition tapes have since been leaked and uploaded to YouTube.
