Hours after the conclusion of the divisional round of the NFL Playoffs, the Philadelphia Eagles are now the Super Bowl LIX betting favorites. The Detroit Lions had held the top spot in the SB odds since the playoffs began but after their loss to the Commanders, Philly is the oddsmakers’ choice to hoist the Lombardi on February 9th.
Super Bowl 59 Futures
- Philadelphia Eagles +190
- Kansas City Chiefs +220
- Buffalo Bills +250
- Washington Commanders +750
If the Eagles make it to Super Bowl 59, it will be the third time they’ve done so in the course of three seasons. They are rated at 30 points ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs in the latest NFL futures, suggesting a rematch of Super Bowl LVII.
Of course, the Eagles lost that game to KC by a final score of 38-35, so why are online NFL sportsbooks thinking it will go differently two years later?
Why The Eagles Will Win This Time
When a quarterback excels at running the ball, it can be assumed that the team will feature a strong rushing attack. The Eagles averaged 179.3 yards per game on the ground this year and have elevated that number to 227 YPG in the playoffs. The only team to post better rushing numbers was the Baltimore Ravens.
What makes Philadelphia difficult to stop from a defensive perspective is the presence of running back Saquon Barkley. Last weekend against the Los Angeles Rams, Barkley posted 205 yards on 26 carries for an average of 7.9 per.
Barley’s performance was the fifth-best postseason total in the history of the NFL Playoffs.
Why Philadelphia Should Be Concerned
The Eagles have not made it to the big game yet and will need to dispatch the red-hot Washington Commanders first. Philly is favored by six points in this Sunday’s NFC Championship Game, but D.C. has overcome underdog status for two weeks in a row.
Furthermore, Commanders’ QB Jayden Daniels has seemed unphased by his postseason success. There’s no doubt that Daniels will be a significant threat in the NFC East for years to come and will not be an easy out for the Eagles this weekend.

If the Eagles win the NFC Championship and make it to Super Bowl LIX, they’ll be going up against a top-rushing defense. The Chiefs allow only 101 yards per game on the ground, while Buffalo lets up an average of 115 per contest.
